Addressing Issues of Difference in Our Communities
Our Consultants
Jenny Martin
While asking questions often got Jenny in trouble as a young person, questions are now the backbone of Jenny's facilitation. Her inquiries fuel classes and workshops designed to uncover the roots of community divisions and bring participants closer to building equitable relationships and lasting coalitions.
Jenny has trained in both Community and Education fields. In Education, her workshops consist of inclusive curriculum development, conflict resolution, accessibility and effective accommodation, learning through play, youth empowerment, policy development, bullying and violence prevention, dynamics of race, gender, class, disability/ability, religion and sexual orientation, personal safety and healthy relationships with students who have disabilities. Within Community organizations and agencies, Jenny has trained a variety of professionals, volunteers and family members. Topics include community networks for advocacy, accessibility for crisis organizations, organizational development, leadership development, building coalition, multi-cultural communication and conflict resolution, eliminating racism, and policy development. All of Jenny's workshops create safe space to explore tough questions, yet honor the experience of each participant.
Jenny brings a relaxed and passionate style to trainings. She has a calm creative approach when facilitating, and sets a pace that is active, interesting and engaging. She uses large and small group discussion, multi-sensory activities, and goal setting in addition to being able to modify curriculum to meet the accessibility needs of the group. Each training, regardless of topic, is carefully designed with attention to social justice issues, accessibility, and to model a creative and equitable learning community.
